Meghan's Take

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect coming to Sedhiou. My heart was ready but I still wasn’t prepared for the reality of living here for almost 3 weeks. The Mandinka people are beautiful. I’m an outsider, they have no reason to even want me here but they are welcoming. They speak to me even when I don’t understand and greet me like they would anyone else. I’ve known about the Mandinka since I first met the Kelly’s 3 summers ago at Camp LaVida but it’s personal now. Pieces of my heart will stay here in the people I’ve encountered. Even though living here isn’t ideal, my heart will long to be back with my friends when I return to the state. The desire of my heart is to see the Gospel take root in the lives of the people here. My opportunity now is to fervently pray for just that.
