Two days in BN

Thank you so much for praying for the team from Hunter Street.  They did a great job.  Last month, I shared with you some of the travel struggles that the team endured, but they did not let them slow them down, once they arrived.  After their time in DjT, we went to BN for the next two days.  We had a little bump in our plans.  Some of the boys were in the bush healing from circumcision.  The creature, “the kankurang, comes out to protect the boys.  We were told that the kankurang would stay away while we were in the village.  After lunch on the first day in BN we were told that we would have to leave in the early afternoon.  So, both days we had to leave earlier than we wanted, but the team stayed focused and saw as many compounds as we could.  The village elders made a decision that took something from the people.  I think they will think about that for some time.  I am happy to say a new small group has started as a result of the team sharing in BN.  IS let us know that a women whose family is temporarily displaced because of the earlier situation in Gambia was interested in knowing more about Christ.  She and several other girls from the compound have been meeting weekly this past month.  Pray for this young woman and her family to understand her need for a savior. (If you would like to know more about the kankurang, email me and I will share more information with you.)

One day in BD

BD was the last village that the team went to on this trip.  Knowing we just had one day in the village we knew we probably would not get to all the compounds.  We had a couple of sad situations.  One young woman from the village died three days after giving birth to a son.  The baby will be cared for by a relative.  We shared our condolences, and prayed for the family.  In our host’s compound, his daughter just had twins, but the baby boy died.  The baby girl is pictured above.  The twins were premature, but we don’t know how early.  The team was able to give the mom advice for helping with nursing.  After lunch the men and women divided into groups.  Again, Sherri and James did a great job sharing health and hygiene information.  At the end of that they distributed soap, shampoo, and lotions. These were welcomed gifts.  Please pray that the Holy Spirit will draw the people of BD to Himself.
